On today's diamond market there are, what are called "non-contact measuring devices".  These are, in essence cad scanners for diamonds.  For example a diamond is placed on the stage of the scanner and the silhouette/outline of the diamond is scanned measuring each of the facets.   Some of these scanners also produce 3 dimensional models of the diamond being scanned which allow the gemologist and consumer (who knows how to read the data) to examine various aspects of the cut quality of the diamond they are considering.

On all of the diamonds we feature and hand pick we provide this analysis and is considered the most basic of cut data one should attain.  There are currently three manufactures of scanners that are on the market.

The Sarin Machine
The Helium Scanner
The OGI MegaScope

We can write about each because we own all three.  Since Sarin is perhaps the most popular we'll begin there.
